WHY WE LOVE TORONTO

There has to be a reason why so many people are wanting to buy properties in Toronto and so few are wanting to sell.
Well, having lived here for over 40 years I can attest to the fact that we do indeed have a fabulous city in which to live. Having grown up in a small town I don’t think that I expected a large city to give me the warmth and feeling of belonging that Toronto has given me. For those who grew up and went to schools in Toronto, many have friendships that have lasted a lifetime. For those of us who were replanted, so to speak, it took a while to find our bearings but once we did we knew that we belonged.
Toronto is not just a large city. It is a city of neighbourhoods and each neighbourhood is like its own small town or village. We meet each other passing on the street, frequent the same shops and restaurants and often even find ourselves meeting in the same office of our dentist or chiropractor. In other words we feel like we are home.
What has brought us to Toronto?
For many it was the pursuit of a good career. Toronto is the hub of Canada’s financial community as well as the centre of the creative development for new businesses.
This search for a good financial lifestyle has brought people from around the world thus creating a multicultural atmosphere that we can all enjoy without leaving the city. Think of any type of food that you might be craving or which you haven’t tried before, I can almost guarantee that you will find it here.
If you like the theatre, Toronto is the heart for this and any evening you have a choice of many live performances. Anything to suit your interests.
Nature also prevails here. We have the fabulous ravine system that meanders throughout Toronto. It is much like the Rockies in B.C. but in reverse – you need to look down to find these treasures. The Waterfront is another natural backdrop that gives us such pleasure whether that be windsurfing, sunning on the beaches, swimming or taking the ferry to Toronto Islands for a day’s outing.
Festivals give life to us each season as events such as the Film Festival invigorate us and add to our experiences.
I guess that the main thing I would say about our city is that it is vibrant – always ready for us to leap in and enjoy an event but it also offers that neighbourhood and quiet backyard where you can just relax at your own pace.
Toronto is indeed a special city.
